Preliminary measures on the A6 between Lyss-Süd and Schönbühl
R+R Burger und Partner is supporting the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO / ASTRA) as client-side project management support (BHU) and senior construction site management supervisor (OBL) in the N06.28 NEB EM Lyss-Süd–Schönbühl maintenance project. In this role, we are overseeing the preparation, coordination, and implementation of the preliminary measures – specific interventions carried out ahead of the main maintenance works. The objective is to upgrade the section for an additional 30 years of service life, thereby implementing ASTRA’s maintenance strategy.
As part of an advance measure (VoMa), nearly 2,000 manhole covers are being replaced on the highway section between Lyss-Süd and Schönbühl. Many existing covers have deteriorated to an unacceptable condition. In some cases, they can no longer be opened, which limits the ability to perform inspections and maintenance work on the infrastructure located below.
The affected manholes are used for road drainage as well as serving as inspection chambers and access points to the drainage systems and electrical installations. To replace them, the existing covers and the adjacent pavement will be removed during daytime construction work. The new covers will then be installed, sealed, and the pavement restored.
Work has been underway since July 27, 2026, and is expected to continue through the end of 2026. Temporary traffic restrictions are to be expected during construction. However, the A6 will remain open to traffic at all times.

Maria holds an MSc in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering/Construction and Maintenance Management) from ETH Zurich, as well as a BSc in Civil Engineering (Honours, cum laude) from the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.
Thanks to her many years’ experience in client representation, tunneling and underground construction, procurement, and operational and strategic project management, she is an excellent addition to our R+R-Team’s consultancy and technical expertise.
N11/60, N01/42 UPlaNS – ZH-Ost–Kloten Süd Interchange (ZOK), Completion of the Maintenance Concept (EK) Phase

Over the past two years, we have supported the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) as project-owner support unit in the development of the maintenance concept (EK) for the ZOK project.
In addition to renewal work, smaller, targeted improvements to enhance traffic safety and traffic flow were also examined.
A particular challenge in this demanding project was the dense population and high traffic volume in the vicinity of Zurich Airport.
Approval for the EK has been granted, and we look forward to supporting the next project phases.
